[Death Dark]

This RP is based off of the "Crossed Paths" mold that half-way failed on us.  The gameplay will once again be based off of each individual character being independent of the group, and once again there will be sprite-based scenes to accompany the story.

I need 4 players.  Each player must post the following in their initial post to "sign up" for this RP.

Unlike Crossed Paths, I will begin this without having all four players already.  As new players come, I will add them to the plot.




(Narrator):  "Legend.  It is a status held by few, but coveted by many.  It requires great feats of mind, body, and spirit.  It gives the hero the ability to transcend time, as their story is told to generations yet to come."



(Narrator):  "It is thought that the time for legends has ended.  For many hundreds of years, no legends have arisen.  The land has not been at complete peace, no, we are still human, but there have been no examples of the greatness portrayed to us through these chosen few.  Have the Heavens closed their eyes on us?"



(Narrator):  "The time has come, child, to break this cycle.  The time has come for a new legend to be born, and it is your turn to take the weight of the world upon your shoulders.  Many will come, many will fall, but in the end, only those worth of being Legends will stand gloriously at the top.  Are you prepared?"


(Narrator):  "In a simple town, on a simple day, a child was born.  He was raised just as every other boy, nothing out of the ordinary by most perspectives.  Yes, he was quite accomplished, but it wasn't seen as anything beyond hard work.

"On another "simple" day, an event would occur that would change him forever..."



(Vincent):  (Vincent is calmly walking down the street)

(Melony):  "Hey, Vincent!"  (Vincent turns to see Melony walking down the street towards him)



(Vincent):  "What is it, Melony?"

(Melony):  "There's something strange going on."

(Vincent):  "What do you mean?"

(Melony):  "I don't know how to explain it, but--" (Melony's words are cut off by a strange energy that presses down on you)



(Vincent):  *Nnng!*  "What's going on!?!"

(Suddenly, in a bright flash, a man appears behind Melony)



(Narrator):  "Time is of the essence, hero, what do you do now?"

[Hobo]

I choose to push Melony out of the way for her own safety and point an accusing finger at the man who appeared behind her and ask, "Who are you!?"

[Death Dark]

I have decided to remove the player cap for now.  I can probably get everyone in the forums playing, but don't join if you know you won't be on often.  I have no problem with randomly killing players off.

As a note, pushing Melony would push her into that guy, so I'm going to have you pull her.


(Vincent pulls Melony away)



(Vincent):  "Who are you?"

(? ? ?):  "I came for the girl."

(Vincent):  "Answer my question, who are you?"

(Oneon):  "I am Lord Oneon.  I have come to retrieve the girl."

(Vincent):  "No!"

(Oneon dashes forward, and strikes down Vincent)



(Vincent):  *Blrgh*

(As Vincent falls unconscious to the ground, Oneon grabs Melony)



(Melony):  (Melony struggles to get free)  "Let me go!"




(Vincent groggily awakes to find his town destroyed)



  (Narrator):  "All that you've ever known is gone, hero.  What are you to do now?"

[Hobo]

I decide to scavenge what's left of the town for weapons and supplies. (I meant push her off to the side, I apologize for not being clear enough.)

(Vincent wanders around, looking for anything that may have survived, but finds everything in ruins.  Anything that even looked like it may have survived was worn down, as if it had endured decades of weathering.  The spade that he bought just the day before was rusted beyond use, and termites had eaten most, if not all, of the handle.  As he turns a corner, he is suddenly brought face-to-face with a strange man)



(Vincent, having never seen this man before, jumps back, ready to fight)

(Vincent):  "Who are you?"

(Cid):  "I could ask you the same thing.  What are you doing way out here?"

(Vincent):  "I asked you a question!"

(Cid):  "You really need to calm down, I'm not here to fight you.  The name's Cid."



(Vincent):  "Sorry, I've been through a lot lately.  So, what are you doing here?"

(Cid):  "Well, I was always told that there was once a great battle out here, many many years ago.  There were four great warriors who fought against Lord Oneon.  They didn't kill him, but they succeeded in gravely injuring him.  It's said that their souls still rest here, so I was just coming to see what I could find."

(Vincent):  "Lord Oneon?  He was just here!  He did all of this!"

(Cid):  (Cid Laughs) "This place has been in ruins for about 20 years now, what are you talking about?"

(Vincent):  "What!?!  No way!  It just happened!  I was talking to Melony, and Oneon showed up, and knocked me out, and took Melony!"

(Cid):  "Are you not feeling well?  The last time anyone lived here was 20 years ago when Oneon attacked."

(Vincent):  "But...I was there..."

(Cid):  "Wait, it was rumored that Oneon had the ability to strike people through time; that by hitting them right, he could send them to another time so that they couldn't interfere."

(Vincent):  "That would mean..."

(Cid):  "Welcome to the future."

(Narrator):  "So, Vincent, the truth comes out.  What are you to do now?"

[Hobo]

I decide that Cid and I will need food and head out to find some sort of nourishment.

(Vincent):  "We're going to need food, and supplies. Help me look for so--"

(Cid):  "We're not going to starve for food.  I have plenty.  This isn't some massively disastrous future you've fallen into, you're just in a bad area.  I guess I'm done scouting.  Come on, follow me back to camp."

(Lost and confused, Vincent has no real choice but to follow this new stranger back to his camp)



(Upon arriving to a camp-like area, Vincent finds another person waiting there)

(Cyan):  "Hey, Cid.  Who's he?"

(Cid):  "Cyan, Vincent; Vincent, Cyan."

(Cyan):  "Hi."

(Vincent):  "Hello."

(Cid):  "Vincent is apparently from the past, from when Oneon originally attacked.  He had fallen victim to Oneon's time attacks."

(Cyan):  "You met Oneon?  What was he like?"

(Vincent):  "He was strong, and fast, and he had a strange energy to him.  When he first got there, it was as if some great force were pushing me down."

(Cid):  "Vincent, here, seems like he could really use some food, and I'm not too far behind him."

(Cyan):  "Well, you came at the right time; I just got done making some dinner."

(During dinner, Vincent finds out that the two of them are a few of the modern warriors who train in case Oneon returns.  They seem pretty strong and knowledgeable about the situation, but none of them seem to know what happened to Melony.  In fact, neither of them had ever heard of any such person.  After dinner, Cid and Cyan offer Vincent a place to stay for the night, which he gladly accepts.  They quickly fall asleep, only to have that sleep interrupted)]

(There was a loud sound outside, as if some tremendous balloon had popped.  In panic, all three rush out of their tents to see a great dark portal opening up close by, sucking in air with great force)



(Cyan):  (Cyan yells above the noise) "What's going on!?!"

(Cid):  "I don't know!!!"

(There is suddenly a great pressure pushing down on the three)

(Vincent):  "It's him!!!  Oneon is here!!!"



(Oneon):  (Speaking slowly, as if he doesn't notice you standing there) "I have returned."

(Narrator):  "This great evil now stands bodingly before you.  What do you do?  What can you do?"

[Hobo]

I ask in a demanding tone to know where Melony is.
